Mandatory source-separated recycling under Oneida-Herkimer Local Law. OHSWA dual-stream: Container Recyclables (metal/glass/plastic) and Paper/Cardboard collected separately.
OHSWA operates one of the few remaining dual-stream recycling programs in NY. Accepted: #1 and #2 plastic bottles/jugs, aluminum/steel cans, glass bottles/jars, newspapers, magazines, cardboard, office paper. Not accepted curbside: plastic bags, Styrofoam, #3-#7 plastics (most). Contamination triggers bin rejection. Commercial generators must recycle under OHSWA mandate. NY Bottle Bill (ECL Β§27-1003) adds 5 cent deposit on eligible beverage containers.
