Bethlehem, PA Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

04 of Article 1162 governs how Bethlehem residents handle yard debris. 01 as leaves, garden residue, shrubbery and tree trimmings, entirely separate from other solid waste. Leaves are collected by the City each fall and disposed of at a designated City facility operating under Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection regulations. Beyond the fall leaf collection, the City picks up yard waste at curbside twice a year, and residents may also haul their own yard waste directly to the designated City facility rather than wait for the twice-yearly pickup.

Subsection (g), Grass Clippings, treats clippings as a distinct category: they may not be disposed of with either yard waste or general solid waste, and the ordinance instead requires every clipping to be mulched back into the yard it came from. 04(d) additionally allows leaf waste to be bagged in open, biodegradable bags available from the City or dropped at the yard waste facility, with residents directed to call the Department of Public Works to arrange collection of bagged leaves. 04(e) prohibits igniting or maintaining any fire to destroy or dispose of yard waste or grass clippings on any premises.
