Pulaski County, AR Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 8-18(d) treats yard waste as its own waste stream, distinct from the household solid waste collected weekly under § 8-18(a)-(c). " To be picked up, the material must be bagged in plastic, placed in another covered container, or bundled neatly in lengths no longer than four feet two inches in diameter, and no bag, container or bundle may weigh more than 50 pounds. Bundles are set alongside the household's regular garbage containers at the curb, following the same placement rule as ordinary solid waste under § 8-18(a): within five feet of the edge of the public road or street curb nearest the residence.

The code is explicit that grass clippings, leaves and shrubbery trimmings, its own narrower definition of "yard waste," cannot be mixed in with regular household garbage; the department instead runs a separate collection route for it. Larger woody debris like tree stumps, dirt, stone, rocks or bricks falls outside both the yard-waste and regular solid-waste definitions under § 8-17(d)(2) and isn't covered by this route at all. Residents on private roads get the same conditional service as for regular garbage: the department will collect if the road is passable to a garbage truck with a turnaround, serves three or more households, and the households have signed an agreement to maintain the road and pay their fees, per § 8-18(c).

Yard waste collection is funded through the same monthly or quarterly sanitation charge set under § 8-20, billed on the water bill for metered customers outside Little Rock or quarterly by the department for unmetered unincorporated residents.
