Full Breakdown

Sec. 38-1390.53(c) requires canopy street trees within the furnishing zone or bulb-out planters along Town Center Framework Streets, spaced at a maximum average of 40 feet on-center. Each tree must have a clear trunk of at least six feet and a minimum caliper of three inches at planting, and palms cannot be used as Framework street trees. Rear Lane type Framework Streets are the one exception: no street trees are required there. The rule applies only within Orange County's designated Town Center, not other unincorporated subdivisions.

Violations & Fines

Landscape plans missing required Framework street trees, using undersized caliper stock, or substituting palms for canopy trees can be rejected during Town Center development plan review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these rules apply county-wide?
No. Sec. 38-1390.53(c) governs only Framework Streets within Orange County's Town Center PD, not general residential streets elsewhere in the unincorporated area.
Can palm trees satisfy the street tree requirement?
No, the code specifically bars palms from counting as Framework Street trees; canopy trees are required instead.
