Utah Code Β§18-2-101 prohibits any city, county, or municipality from enacting or enforcing breed-specific legislation. Utah County cannot restrict or ban any specific dog breed. However, animals that have been judicially determined to be vicious or a threat in any jurisdiction are prohibited from being brought into Utah County under Chapter 5-2-19. Dangerous animal designations are behavior-based, not breed-based.
Breed ban violations: impoundment and fines per city ordinance. Dangerous dog violations: escalating penalties.
