In Weld County's Agricultural zone, household pets are limited to four of one species or seven of two-plus species per lot (eight or sixteen, plus 30 birds, on 10-plus acres). Keeping more than four dogs over six months old on ten acres or less is deemed failing to control them.
Weld County Zoning Code Sec. 23-3-70(D) caps household pets in the A (Agricultural) Zone District at four of one species or a total of seven of two or more species; on a lot of at least ten acres not in a subdivision the limit rises to eight of one species or sixteen of two-plus species, plus up to thirty birds. Separately, the animal code (Sec. 14-4-20(A)) treats an owner of more than four dogs over six months old as failing to control them if the premises is ten acres or less or lies in a recorded subdivision, or more than eight dogs if the premises exceeds ten acres. A kennel approved by special review can exceed these numbers.
Exceeding the dog counts in Sec. 14-4-20(A) is a Class 2 petty offense (penalty assessment $35 and up); exceeding zoning household-pet limits is a zoning violation enforced by Weld County Planning Services.
