Clark County Code Chapter 10.30 regulates, rather than bans, retail sale of dogs and cats: including at Strip-area pet stores in unincorporated Paradise and Winchester. Before any dog or cat can be offered for sale or adoption, a retailer or dealer must have it examined by a veterinarian (Sec. 10.30.100). At the point of sale the retailer must hand the buyer a written statement disclosing the animal's birth date, its source (including any USDA license number), and its vaccination history (Sec. 10.30.110). No dog or cat under eight weeks old may be sold, rehomed or gifted (Sec. 10.30.140), and a buyer gets a refund or reimbursement if a vet finds a pre-existing serious condition within ten days of sale (Sec. 10.30.130).
Violations & Fines
Knowingly selling a dog or cat with a terminal illness or condition requiring immediate hospitalization or surgery is a misdemeanor; a court may also bar the seller from selling any animals for up to one year (Sec. 10.30.150).
