Revere, MA Animal Ordinances: Wildlife Feeding (2026)

01 before a citywide renumbering, prohibits three separate things. First, no one may feed, bait, or otherwise provide access to food for any wild animal or bird anywhere in Revere, on public or private land. Second, no one may leave or store refuse, garbage, food products, pet food, forage products or supplements, salt, seed, birdseed, fruit, or grain in a way that would attract a wild animal or bird, closing off the workaround of calling an attractant something other than deliberate feeding. Third, the ordinance builds in an escalation clause: once the city advises a person to take remedial action, such as securing or removing outdoor trash, grills, pet food, or bird feeders, after a contact or conflict with a wild animal, that person must follow through, and continuing to provide or failing to secure those same food sources after an initial conflict is itself a separate violation.

Inspectional services and animal control jointly enforce the chapter. The prohibition covers the full range of wildlife the city deals with on its coastal and urban terrain, from gulls and geese along Revere Beach to raccoons and coyotes drawn into neighborhoods by open trash or pet food left outdoors, though it stops short of naming any species-specific culling or hazing program.
