Town of Vienna Code prohibits intentionally feeding wildlife including white-tailed deer, raccoons, foxes, coyotes, skunks, opossums, and feral cats. Bird feeding is generally allowed but must not attract larger wildlife; bear-resistant storage is not currently mandated but is encouraged given occasional black bear sightings in northern Fairfax County. Fairfax County operates an active deer management program including controlled archery hunts on public lands (not within Vienna corporate limits) and educational outreach. Injured wildlife should be reported to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) or licensed wildlife rehabilitators listed on the DWR website. Rabies vector species (raccoons, skunks, foxes, bats) that have contacted humans or pets must be reported to Fairfax County Health Department and submitted for rabies testing under VA Code 3.2-6521 procedures.
