Before commencing the installation, alteration, removal or disconnection of any wiring system through or by which is conveyed or intended to be conveyed, electrical current for power, heating, cooling or illuminating purposes or control on, or under any building or structure in the City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a permit therefore shall first be obtained by the licensed insured electrical contractor in charge of such work from the Electrical Inspection Section of the Building Services Department or the State of Iowa, and it shall be unlawful to commence or proceed with such work unless such permit shall have first been obtained. An investigation fee may be charged when a permit has not first been obtained. Any person who commences any work on an electrical system before obtaining the necessary permits shall be subject to a fee established by The City Council of the City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa by resolution that shall be in addition to the required permit fees.
