St. Peters, MO Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Section 510.010 adopts the 2020 edition of NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code, including Appendix H, as the governing electrical code for the City of St. Peters, Missouri, with all references to "Jurisdiction" and "Code Official" read as the City and the Building Commissioner respectively (Sections 510.020 and 510.030). Amendments in Section 510.050 add local licensing rules: Annex H 90.90 requires any electrical contractor working within the city to first be examined and licensed by St. Charles County, and to obtain a City of St.

Peters business license under Chapter 605, Business Licenses and Business Regulations. Firms must employ a duly licensed supervisor responsible for their installations (90.90.1), and a license may not be loaned to another person or firm (90.90.2). Homeowners working on their own occupied residence, farm owners on their own structures, and employees of licensed contractors are excepted from the licensing requirement (90.90.3). Inspection fees follow Annex H 80.19(E) and the Appendix A Schedule of Fees in Title V. Concealed work must be exposed for inspection on request, and the Authority Having Jurisdiction must inspect within two business days of notice under the amended Annex H 80.13. Appeals from a Code Official decision go to the Board of Appeals under Chapters 410 and 505, filed within twenty days of notice.
