Owners must maintain equipment to ASME A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators standards. Because the Las Vegas Strip sits within unincorporated Paradise and hosts some of the tallest hotel-casinos in the nation (Stratosphere, Resorts World, Fontainebleau), Clark County contains thousands of regulated conveyances including high-speed passenger elevators, service elevators, dumbwaiters, and escalators in casino properties and convention centers. Multi-family residential towers in Summerlin South and Spring Valley also fall under DIR jurisdiction. Private residential elevators in single-family homes are subject to permit and inspection but not Certificate of Operation posting.
