Section 5-7's fee schedule sets both permit fees and reinspection fees. For any given phase of construction, the contractor gets one initial inspection and one re-inspection at no extra charge beyond the permit fee. 00. If an inspector shows up because one was requested and finds the building locked, a re-inspection fee is charged just for that trip. Separately, Sec. 5-4 governs the certificate of occupancy: the building official issues it at completion of the permitted work only 'after inspection' confirms compliance with Chapter 5 or other laws the department enforces, and the official can withhold the certificate pending completion of related work at the same location.

Where non-life or health threatening items remain, the official may issue a conditional certificate of occupancy that lists what's left to complete, the time allowed, and the penalty for missing the deadline. Because Auburn adopted the 2021 International Building Code by Sec. 5-42 as 'part of the law of the city,' the substantive inspection stages (footing, framing, and so on) follow that adopted code, while the local fee schedule in Sec. 5-7 controls what the city actually charges when a phase has to be inspected more than twice.
