Section 80-7.A requires that permitted work remain accessible and exposed until the Code Enforcement Officer or an authorized inspector has inspected and accepted it, and puts the burden on the Permit Holder to notify the Code Enforcement Officer when each stage listed in Subsection B is ready. Subsection B lists eleven inspection points where applicable: the work site itself before a building permit issues, footing and foundation, preparation for a concrete slab, framing, the structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire-protection systems, fire-resistant construction and penetrations, solid-fuel heating appliances, chimneys, flues and gas vents, the tests needed to show Energy Code compliance such as insulation and air leakage, the installation of factory-manufactured buildings and manufactured homes, and a final inspection once all authorized work is done.

Section 80-7.C lets the Code Enforcement Officer substitute a remote inspection for an in-person visit when a remote review can reach the same level of confidence, but requires an in-person inspection if the remote review cannot supply enough information to decide. Under Subsection D, after each inspection the work is marked satisfactory, or the Permit Holder is told in writing exactly which Code provision the work fails to meet, and the work must stay exposed until it is brought into compliance, reinspected, and found satisfactory.

Fees for each inspection are due under § 80-22 and the schedule in § 105-4 before or at the time of the inspection. Chapter 80's fire safety and property maintenance inspections under § 80-14 run on a separate schedule, at least every 12 months for assembly buildings and schools, and every 36 months for multiple dwellings and nonresidential occupancies.
