Under federal TSCA (15 USC §2681-92) and EPA Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (40 CFR Part 745), any renovation disturbing more than 6 square feet interior or 20 square feet exterior in pre-1978 housing must be performed by an EPA-certified renovator using lead-safe work practices. Florida Department of Health also administers lead poisoning prevention under FL §381.983.
