Work that encroaches into sidewalks, parking lanes, or travel lanes requires a Construction Use of Public Way permit through SLC Engineering. Scaffolds must be inspected, include pedestrian protection (covered walkway) when over sidewalks, and meet Utah OSHA (UOSH) fall protection rules. Building permits issued by Building Services require scaffolding to comply with IBC Chapter 33 and UOSH 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L.
