SLC Zoning Code Β§21A.44.050 governs driveway design. Single-family driveways may be up to 24 feet wide at the lot line; wider driveways require Planning Commission approval. Gravel driveways are prohibited except on lots larger than 1 acre in R-1/12,000 and RR-1 zones. Curb cuts and aprons require a Public Way permit from SLC Engineering (fee approx $150 + $60 inspection) and must meet ADA crossing slope requirements. Vehicles must be parked on approved surfaces β parking on lawn, dirt, or gravel in front/side yards is a Β§21A.44 violation. Maximum front-yard paving: 50% of required front setback area.
