Full Breakdown
South Jordan City Code § 17.18.030.010 generally confines watercraft, trailers, campers, motor homes and other utility or recreational vehicles to lawfully built structures or approved parking areas. For single-family lots, the code carves out an exception: such vehicles may sit outside if stored behind the front line of the main building, and if placed in a street-side yard, kept at least eight feet (8') from the street right-of-way and screened behind a six-foot (6') obscuring wall or fence. Vehicles may also be parked temporarily in a front or street-side yard for no more than 72 hours without meeting those setback and screening rules. A guest's travel trailer or motor home may additionally be stored and occupied in the driveway of the required front or street-side yard for up to seven days per calendar year.
Violations & Fines
Storing an RV, trailer, or watercraft in a front or street-side yard without the required setback and screening, beyond the 72-hour temporary window, violates § 17.18.030.010 and is enforceable as a zoning-code violation.
