South Jordan prohibits parking any vehicle on a public street for more than 48 consecutive hours. Overnight parking is generally allowed within this limit unless signed otherwise, and vehicles must be moved to avoid being tagged or towed.
South Jordan Municipal Code Title 10 (Traffic and Vehicles) sets street parking rules consistent with Utah Code Title 41 Chapter 6a. The city enforces a 48-hour rule β any vehicle parked on a public street, right-of-way, or city-maintained roadway for more than 48 consecutive hours may be tagged and subsequently towed as abandoned. Moving a vehicle a short distance and returning does not reset the clock if police determine the vehicle has not left the area. Parking is also prohibited within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, in marked no-parking zones, blocking driveways or mailboxes, on sidewalks, or facing against the direction of traffic. During snow events, parking may be prohibited on designated snow routes to allow plowing. School zone and bus stop restrictions apply during school hours. Some neighborhoods near commercial areas or schools have posted 2-hour or permit-only zones. Violations typically result in warning tags followed by citations ($25β$75 range) and potentially towing at the owner's expense.
