West Jordan, UT Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 7-3-5 governs how a vehicle must sit once stopped on a public street. On a two-way street the operator must park with the right-hand wheels parallel to and within 12 inches of the right-hand curb, or as close as practicable to the shoulder edge if there is no curb; parking against traffic, with the wheels on the wrong side, is not one of the listed options and is treated as a violation of this section. On a one-way street the vehicle must sit parallel to the curb in the direction of authorized traffic movement, again within 12 inches of the curb or shoulder edge.

On any perceptible grade, the operator must set the brakes and turn the front wheels toward the curb or the side of the street. Section 7-3-6(B)(1) layers on a separate ban: a person may not stand or park, even momentarily beyond picking up or discharging a passenger, in front of a public or private driveway. The same section also bars parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk, and within 30 feet of the approach to a stop sign or traffic signal.

Both sections trace to 2001 Code sections 86-3-105 and 86-3-106 and were last amended by Ordinance 24-51 on November 6, 2024. Violations are enforced the same way as the rest of chapter 3: a law enforcement officer or parking enforcement official may cite, immobilize, move, or impound the vehicle, and civil citations follow the Title 16 administrative process.
