Salt Lake City, UT Building Safety: Building Inspections (2026)

Under the Salt Lake City Code, the building official administers and enforces Title 18 by inspecting all work done under a permit, approving or condemning it in whole or in part as conditions require, and can order corrections or stop-work orders for noncompliant or unsafe work. No certificate of approval or certificate of occupancy issues until that inspected work is approved. The building official and enforcement staff also have a standing right of entry, at reasonable hours, into any building or premises to inspect or investigate work or conditions covered by the title.
