Work covered before inspection must be exposed at the owner contractor expense. All permits require a final inspection before expiration, typically 180 days from the last approved inspection. For new dwellings and commercial buildings, a Certificate of Occupancy is issued only after final inspections from building, planning, engineering, and health department as applicable are all approved. Attempting to occupy a structure before CO issuance is a code violation.
