Table 6-4 sets one maximum for every zoning district, and the limit covers all structures, not only houses. The agricultural and rural residential districts (AG, RDR and RLL) are held to 40 feet with no story count. R-1, RP-1, RP-2, PRO, NFO, TNZ and CP-2 are all capped at 40 feet (3 stories). RP-3 allows 45 feet (3 stories) and RP-4 allows 50 feet (4 stories). Among the commercial and office districts, CP-1 is the lowest at 35 feet (3 stories), CBD and CS each allow 50 feet (4 stories), and PO is the tallest fixed limit at 75 feet (5 stories).

Three entries carry no number: PI reads NA, AZ reads FAA Approved, and PMIX reads that height is established as part of zoning approval for each Planned Development, so a PMIX project's height is fixed in its own approval. Height is measured under Sec. 15.650: the vertical distance from the highest of the street curb level, the established or mean street grade where no curb exists, or the average finished ground level adjoining a building set back from the street line, up to the coping of a flat roof, the deck line of a mansard roof, the average height of the highest gable of a pitched or hipped roof, or the maximum height of any segment of a stepped or terraced building.

Sec. 6.060.A.1 exempts two categories from the district limits: agricultural buildings such as barns, silos, windmills and grain elevators (dwellings excluded), and cooling towers, gas holders or other industrial structures required as part of the manufacturing process. Under A.2.a, hospitals, hotels, churches, sanitariums and schools, public or private, can be built to 75 feet in any district where they are permitted, but their yards grow one foot on all sides for each additional foot above the district limit. Under A.2.b, parapet walls and false mansards cannot extend more than six feet above the height limit. Near the airport, Sec. 5.030 adds overlay height zones, including a horizontal zone set at 150 feet above airport elevation.
