Full Breakdown
Rockville's Home-Based Business standards bar auto repair from residential zoning use outright. Under the equipment-and-facilities rules that apply to every home occupation, motor vehicle repairs, sales, or internal combustion engine work are prohibited -- there is no permit or Special Exception path around it, unlike the higher-impact 'Material Impact' tier available to other home businesses. The same clause also bars storing contracting equipment on the lot except inside a vehicle used to transport it between jobs, and bars loading or unloading near the site.
Violations & Fines
Running a home auto-repair or vehicle-sales operation is a zoning violation regardless of scale or Special Exception status -- Sec. 25.6.8.2(b)(3)(B) bans it outright, enforceable by the City's Zoning Administrator under Article 13.
