Boynton Beach, FL Business Licensing & Operations: Towing Companies (2026)

Sec. 13-26 imposes two separate duties on any towing or wrecker business operating in Boynton Beach. First, any person or firm that tows or removes vehicles and requires the owner, operator, or person in control of the vehicle to pay towing and storage costs before the vehicle is released must file a complete copy of its current rate schedule with the City Police Department, post an identical schedule at the storage site, and include the current rates in any written contract with a property owner, lessor, or other person authorizing that firm to remove vehicles from their property.

Second, any company towing vehicles from private property without the owner's consent must mark its trucks, on both the driver's and passenger's side doors, with the company's name, address, and telephone number in letters at least two inches tall. Sec. 13-27 extends a similar marking requirement to the broader category of trucks used in any contracting, delivery, maintenance, or repair business, requiring the business name and address on both sides of the vehicle in letters at least two inches high. Like every other business in the City, a towing or wrecker company must also hold a Certificate of Use and Occupancy and a current Business Tax Receipt under Sec. 13-6, renewable annually between October 1 and September 30.
