A. A. 40A:11-5(1)(u). The Chief of Police maintains a rotating tow list; contractors must file an annual application with a fee by January 30 each year and meet minimum standards under § 327-6, including a 15-minute daytime and 20-minute nighttime response requirement, two owned tow vehicles (one flatbed), a fenced storage lot within a one-mile radius able to hold at least 25 vehicles, and $1,000,000 automobile liability plus $60,000 garage keeper's liability coverage. Performance is graded: 90% of calls must be answered within the response window, no more than 10% within an additional 10 minutes, and no response later than 25 minutes; contractors falling short can be pulled from the list for at least six months.

75 per additional mile, $212 to $312 for medium trucks depending on weight, and daily outdoor storage fees of $50 to $126 depending on vehicle class. Vehicle owners retain the right under § 327-8 to call their own wrecker instead of the rotation list if they are present and capable. All impounded vehicles go to the Township Storage Facility under § 327-11, and release requires paying the daily storage fee plus any administrative or title-surrender fee set in Chapter 150 before the vehicle is returned.
