Arlington Heights requires every building owner to keep foundations, roofs, windows, doors and basement hatchways rodent-proof and to exterminate insects and rodents on the premises under Village Code Section 9-302. Garages, sheds and other outbuildings must stay in good repair so they cannot become a rodent harborage, and stored lumber cannot be left in a way that shelters rats.

6.Out Buildings. All garages, tool sheds and all other out buildings shall be kept in good repair so as not to be unsafe or become a potential harborage for rodents or other wild animals.
