Huntington's Historic Preservation Commission can recommend, and the Town Board can designate, any site with special character or value as part of the region's "broad cultural, political, economic or social history" as a historic landmark or district under Town Code § 198-40.1. Once designated, no permit to alter, move or demolish the property issues without a certificate of approval.
