Lincoln Municipal Code § 24.05.130(k)

Gas outlets in a barbecue or fireplace shall be controlled by an approved operating valve located in the same room and outside the fireplace but not more than four feet from the outlets. If piping on the discharge side of the control valve is standard weight brass, galvanized steel, or black iron pipe, the piping may be embedded in or surrounded by not less than two inches of concrete or masonry.
