In the City of Owensboro, cyclists must ride a bike path once one exists beside the roadway, staying off the street under Owensboro Municipal Code Sec. 25-172. Riders cannot travel more than five feet from the curb except when passing or entering a marked turn lane, and Sec. 25-171 requires hugging the right side and riding single file. The Owensboro Police Department enforces this, and violators face a $10 to $25 fine, a 30-day impoundment, or both under Sec. 25-179.
