Pasco requires residential pools, spas, and hot tubs to be built under the adopted International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, PMC 16.60.010, and to meet the same yard setbacks as the main house under PMC 16.60.030. Public or semi-public pools in a residential zone additionally need a Board of Adjustment special permit.

Every outdoor pool, spa, and hot tub in Pasco must sit behind a nonclimbable barrier at least five feet tall with a self-closing, self-latching gate, under PMC 16.60.020. The fence must stay at least three feet from the water's edge and can't clear more than two inches above grade.
