These county ordinances apply to unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County. Incorporated cities within the county may have their own rules that take precedence over county-level regulations.

A person who reports a potential violation of a code or an ordinance must provide his or her name and address to the respective local government before an investigation or enforcement proceeding may occur. This paragraph does not apply if the Code Inspector has reason to believe that the violation presents an imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources.

(d) If a person cited refuses to sign any official notice requiring signature, the Code Inspector shall write the words "refused" or "refused to sign" in the space provided for the person's signature and shall leave a copy of the notice requiring signature with the person cited, if possible.

(e) Whoever knowingly makes a false statement/report/complaint or misrepresents themselves in writing with the intent to mislead a public servant in the performance of their official duty shall be guilty of a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.00, pursuant to F.S. § 837.06.

(f) Except as provided in Subsections (g) and (h) of this section, if a violation of the codes or ordinances is found, the Code Inspector shall first notify the violator and give him/her reasonable time to correct the violation.
