Palm Beach Gardens, FL Code Violation Reporting: Response Times (2026)

Palm Beach Gardens enforces its codes through two parallel procedures in Chapter 2, and each sets its own correction clock. Under the special magistrate procedure in Division 3, § 2-232(a) requires the code inspector to notify the violator and give a reasonable time to correct the violation before requesting a hearing, unless § 2-232(c) finds a repeat violation or § 2-232(d) finds the condition a serious threat to health, safety or welfare, or irreparable or irreversible, in which case the inspector can seek a hearing immediately without giving any correction period.

The separate citation system in Division 4 is more specific: § 2-264(a) requires a written violation notice before any citation issues, and § 2-264(b) fixes that notice's correction window at not less than five calendar days and not to exceed 30 days, again with the same repeat-violation and serious-threat exceptions letting an officer skip straight to a citation. Once a citation issues, § 2-264(d) gives the officer 72 hours to deposit it with the county court by certified mail or personal service, § 2-264(e) sets a ten-day deadline for the violator to pay, and § 2-264(f) gives the violator ten calendar days to contest the citation with the clerk of court instead.

Under § 2-265, an uncontested citation is a civil infraction carrying a penalty of up to $500 under the fine schedule in Schedule 'B,' escalating for repeat offenses, while refusing to sign a citation is a second-degree misdemeanor under § 2-265(f).
