Historic-Cultural Monuments

Beaufort County's Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) keeps a countywide inventory of historic buildings, structures, objects, cemeteries and sites, including tabby ruins, meeting State Historic Preservation Office survey standards. Once a resource is designated, owners need a Certificate of Appropriateness before the county issues any building or development permit touching it, and damaging a listed resource is a separate code violation.
