Fencing Requirements

Beaufort County requires all residential swimming pools to comply with the 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) Section 305 and the 2021 International Residential Code, both adopted statewide by South Carolina with an effective date of January 1, 2023. Barriers must be at least 48 inches tall with self-closing, self-latching gates, and are verified at the final pool inspection by Beaufort County Building Codes (Building Inspections).
