Solicitor Permits

Hendricks County requires every peddler, solicitor, or transient merchant to register with the Sheriff's Department at least three days before doing business, post a $250 bond, and pay a license fee ranging from $20 a day to $100 a month before going door to door in the unincorporated county.

Hendricks County Code of Ordinances § 111.01

§ 111.01 REGISTRATION REQUIRED. It shall be unlawful for any direct seller to engage in direct sales within the county without being registered for that purpose as provided herein.

Hendricks County bars registered direct sellers from calling at any home posted with a "No Peddlers" or "No Solicitors" sign, and limits door-to-door calls to between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. absent an appointment, backed by fines and possible registration revocation.
