Knox County treats rodent or insect infestation as a public health and safety nuisance under Sec. 38-201. The Health Department director can inspect property, order abatement in as little as 24 hours, and pursue civil penalties up to $1,000.00 per day in Environmental Court against an owner or lessee who fails to correct it.
