Smoker Rules
Lake County's Burning Regulations impose a seasonal ban on burning brush, slash and other flammable debris from May 1 until CAL FIRE proclaims the hazard abated, but Sec. 22-3.1 carves out recreational fires and fires used solely to cook food. Backyard smokers, barbecues and campfires used for cooking do not need the burning permit that brush and debris fires require during that window.
