Tree Removal & Heritage Trees
New development in unincorporated Laurens County cannot cut, move or destroy a protected tree, defined as any healthy hardwood 8 inches or more in diameter, without first getting a tree removal development permit from the county. The permit expires one year after issue, and no more than 20 percent of trees in the building area can come down without a Technical Review Committee finding of unique site circumstances.
