In unincorporated Pierce County, a home security camera counts as an "alarm system" under PCC 8.64.010.J once it's set up to summon a Sheriff's Department response, and PCC 8.64.030.A requires the owner to register it with the Sheriff's Alarm Administrator. Registration costs $24.00 a year, discounted to $12.00 for seniors and people with disabilities, and false or unregistered alarms draw separate fines.
