Agricultural Zoning Protection
Unincorporated Portage County's A1 Exclusive Agricultural District is written to preserve productive farmland, keep agriculture a major part of the county's economy, and minimize conflicts between farm and nonfarm land uses. The district applies only in the 15 towns that have adopted county zoning, allowing farm housing but limiting nonfarm housing to low densities.
