Rodent Control

Sarasota County's Building Official can force rodent extermination before an unsafe structure comes down. Under Building Code § 103.5.7, once the County Health Officer confirms rodent infestation in a structure slated for demolition or removal, the Building Official may require a licensed pest control operator to exterminate the rodents so they don't scatter into neighboring properties.

103.5.7 Authority to Order Rodent Control.
