Coral Springs enforces both nighttime and daytime juvenile curfews. Minors under 16 must not be in public places during curfew hours. The city also has a daytime curfew for school-age minors during school hours. Violations result in civil infractions with $50 fines.
Coral Springs enforces juvenile curfew under its municipal code, authorized by Florida Statute 877.20-877.22, which permits local governments to adopt juvenile curfew ordinances. The nighttime curfew follows state guidelines: minors under 16 may not be in public unattended from 11 PM to 5 AM Sunday through Thursday, and 12:01 AM to 6 AM on weekends and legal holidays. Coral Springs also enforces a daytime curfew where minors under 16 who are suspended or expelled may not be in public places or within 1,000 feet of a school between 9 AM and 2 PM on school days. Exceptions include minors accompanied by a parent, traveling to/from work, or responding to emergencies. Parents who knowingly permit curfew violations face escalating penalties.
First violation for the minor: written warning. Subsequent violations: civil infraction with $50 fine. Parents receive a written warning for first violation, then $50 civil infraction for each subsequent violation of knowingly permitting the curfew breach.
