Detroit's juvenile curfew is codified at Chapter 33 (Minors). Under Β§33-3-11, the age-15-and-under curfew runs 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. during standard time and shifts to 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. during daylight saving time. Under Β§33-3-12, the 16-and-17 curfew runs 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on weeknights during standard time and shifts to 11:00 p.m. on Fri-Sat (and on all days during DST). It is unlawful for a covered minor to be on any public street, sidewalk, playground, vacant lot, other unsupervised public place, or in a place of entertainment (theater, restaurant) during curfew hours. Exemptions cover private residences, private clubs, schools, churches, licensed family hobby and recreation centers, fraternal organizations, and other civic agencies.
Parental responsibility is enforced under Β§33-6-4 with graduated fines - $75-$100 first conviction, $100-$500 second, $250-$500 subsequent, plus possible jail of 15-90 days or probation with a mandatory work program.
