Detroit has no codified citywide park curfew. City parks operated by GSD Parks and Recreation post their own hours, typically dawn-to-dusk. Belle Isle, Detroit's largest park, is run as a Michigan State Park by the DNR and follows state park rules. The juvenile curfew applies in parks independently.
Two regimes govern Detroit park hours. First, neighborhood, community, and regional parks are operated by the Parks and Recreation Division of the General Services Department under posted hours and rules rather than a single Code section. DPD enforces after-hours presence under general Michigan trespass law. Second, Belle Isle has been operated since 2014 as part of the Michigan State Park system by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and follows state park rules plus the Recreation Passport requirement. The juvenile curfew at §§33-3-11 and 33-3-12 applies in parks regardless of park hours - a minor under 16 cannot be in a public park after 8 p.m. standard time even if the park itself is open.
Entering a Detroit park after posted closing is enforceable as trespass under Michigan law. Belle Isle is enforced by DNR conservation officers and Michigan State Police. Minors in parks after curfew face the §§33-3-11 and 33-3-12 penalties through DPD.
