Full Breakdown

Sec. 66-5 limits city park access to 6:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. every day of the year, except for unusual and unforeseen emergencies or unless the parks and recreation director permits otherwise. Each park must post its specific opening and closing hours on site. The director can also declare any park, or any section of one, closed to the public at any time, temporarily or on a recurring schedule, under Sec. 66-6, and the parks and recreation department enforces these hours with police assistance under Sec. 66-4. The rule derives from Code 1981, § 24-5.

Violations & Fines

Being in a Westland city park before 6:00 a.m. or after 10:00 p.m., or entering a section the parks director has closed to the public, violates the posted park hours under Sec. 66-5.
