Bayonne, NJ Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 13-5e sets the operative curfew for sleeping in Bayonne's municipal parks: no person may remain in a park for the purpose of sleeping between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. The rule is paired with, but distinct from, paragraph d's separate ban on camping structures, tents and cooking devices in parks. Two narrow carve-outs exist: the Division of Recreation may grant special permission to persons providing security services in the park during those overnight hours, and to persons or entities conducting a special event that runs into the curfew window, such as an evening concert or festival permitted under Section 13-5's group-activity rules.

Outside those exceptions, the curfew applies uniformly across every municipal park and playground in the City, and enforcement falls to the Division of Recreation and the Bayonne Police Department alongside the general Code penalty in Chapter 1, Section 1-5. As with the camping ban in paragraph d, a person cited for sleeping in a park between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. can avoid the violation under paragraph f by accepting Social Services within 30 hours of the citation, provided the person has no other outstanding citation under this section.
