Cayuga County, NY Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 206-14 of the Cayuga County Code sets the default hours for every county-owned park, trail and recreation area, including Emerson Park, at dawn to dusk. The Recreation Commission decides opening and closing times generally and can push those hours later on a case-by-case basis when a scheduled event, such as a concert or fireworks display, calls for it; there is no fixed evening cutoff written into the code beyond dusk. Once a restricted or controlled area, or any part of the grounds, has closed for the day, no person or vehicle may enter or remain there without the Commission's written permission, whether or not the property is fenced or gated.

Rangers and Sheriff's deputies patrolling county parks rely on this section to clear grounds after dusk and to keep people out of controlled areas, such as maintenance yards or closed swimming zones, once posted hours end. The same chapter's broader traffic and conduct rules, covering speed limits, parking and vehicle access by designated routes, apply throughout the hours the park is open and continue to apply to anyone who remains past closing under an extension.
