Concord, NC Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Concord's park curfew comes from Sec. 42-20 of the Code of Ordinances, in Article II, Public Parks. The ordinance defines "park" broadly to include every property the city owns, leases or uses for public parks and recreation, from greenway trails and swimming pools to recreation fields, passive parks and the farmers' market. Two closing times apply depending on how a given portion of the park is equipped. m. m. once daylight saving time begins. The city must post signs at each park entrance stating which closing time applies to which portion of the grounds, so a visitor cannot claim the schedule was unposted.

Entering or remaining on park premises after the applicable closing hour is prohibited outright: the ordinance carves out no exception for jogging, dog-walking or fishing after hours. Violation of Sec. 42-20 is punishable under the general penalty schedule in Sec. 1-6, applied as a misdemeanor citation issued by Concord Police or park staff working with police. The same article also bars sleeping on park benches, camping outside designated camping sites, and unauthorized soliciting, enforced alongside the curfew during nighttime patrols.
