Elkhart County, IN Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 93.024 of the Park Rules, adopted by Ord. 12-177 on April 16, 2012, sets the county's park curfew. Division (A) provides: 'Any use of any park area or facility outside the posted access hours is prohibited without a written permit issued by the Director of the Park Department.' Hours are set by posting at each park rather than by a single countywide clock, so the operative closing time is whatever sign is up at that location.

Division (B) backs the curfew with a vehicle rule: no vehicle may be operated or left in a park outside posted hours without the same written permit, and 'any vehicle left on park premises after hours without such authorization may be towed from the park without further notice to the owner or operator,' with the registered owner on the hook for towing and storage fees. Divisions (C) and (D) round out the section by requiring paid reservations to be honored for shelters and by making entrance fees, where the Park Board has set one, mandatory before using a fee area.
